Our Teacher

Oreta Rumbawa

I have been involved with Speedway Co-op Preschool as a volunteer over the last 5 years. This school has been a source of joy for me! In my interactions with all the age groups in our preschool, I have developed a passion for teaching. I am a grandmother of six, two of which have been involved in Speedway Co-op Preschool. For the past year, I have also served as a permanent substitute teacher for all age levels.

Watching our students learn and grow through a play based environment has motivated me to start my career as a preschool teacher. Nothing gives me more joy than seeing a child thrive and learn in an environment that allows children to express their creativity! I have developed special friendship bonds with parents and staff that I’m sure will last a lifetime.

My background in education started in Pike Township at Snacks Crossing Elementary School as a Special Education Teacher Assistant. There, I learned the value of teaching children with challenges through play, life skills and an amended curriculum. I became interested in the medical issues with our special needs children and became a Certified Medical Assistant specializing in Internal Medicine. From there, I worked for the Indiana School of Medicine, Medical and Molecular Genetics Department.

Speedway Co-op Preschool is a wonderful school and I can’t wait to meet you and your child!
